And I know a thing or two about hard places.
I’ve traveled the rocky roads of marriage struggles, infertility, special needs parenting, and anxiety and depression. I’ve battled chronic illness and body shame. I’ve wondered in quiet moments if God truly is who He says He is.
And I know a thing or two about hard places.
Can you relate?
Maybe you find yourself in a similar place now. You, too, might be facing trials in your marriage or stress in your parenting. Perhaps you’re battling an illness or the sinking feeling that your body is broken and destined to let you down. Maybe you’re struggling to hold onto hope and the belief that God truly is good—to you.
I don’t know what hard thing you’re carrying today, but I know this: you are not alone.
In those dark days of deep heartache, I began writing—a childhood passion tucked deep inside my heart—and started pouring out words in an attempt to make sense of the pain. Messy journal-like entries turned to raw blog posts that eventually turned into coherent devotions and articles pointing to our One true source of hope and light: Jesus.
By God’s grace, my marriage is still standing and stronger than ever. We are living proof that our God is still a God of miracles and redemption. These days, this corner of the internet is a safe place for women who are hurting and love Jesus but don’t want to hear a corny, cliched response to their pain. Sometimes, an embroidered message on a pillow can’t soothe the ache inside—but the pure Word of God can speak into any fiery trial we’re facing.
Dear one, I’m so grateful you’re here. Let me be a stepping stone in your journey to deeper faith and healing. Together, we can cling to the rock-solid hope we have in Him!

I have the honor and joy of being on the writing team for Proverbs 31 Ministries, where I write regularly for the Encouragement for Today daily devotions. I’ve also contributed to additional Proverbs 31 Ministries publications such as 40 Reminders that God is in Control: Devotions to Redirect Your Worry Into Worship.
Additionally, I’ve written for Sheila Wray Gregoire of To Love, Honor, and Vacuum, published academic papers during my lawyer days, and contributed articles on forgiveness and love to two anthologies through the Inspire Christian Writers network.
meet the family
Meet my perfectly imperfect family!
Aaron and I met way back in the day during medical school. Who knew love could blossom in the library over long talks about muscle groups and the structure of the trigeminal nerve?! After a year, I decided I’d drop medical school but hold onto him. So we said “I do” in 2005, and there’s never been a dull day since!
After about seven years of marriage, God decided to shake things up by moving us across the country to California for an incredible five-year adventure!
During this season, God answered the deep cry of my heart for children—and after battling infertility for nearly three years, we welcomed our son Isaiah in 2013. Then, our daughter Hemingway joined us precisely 12 months and 11 days later to our great surprise and delight. And two years after that, our younger daughter Anniston arrived in 2016.
Yes, I’m as tired as you might think!
These days, we’re happily settled back on the East coast close to extended family and friends—but the spirit of adventure we developed in California has stuck with us! As a family, our favorite activities include hiking, camping, swimming, biking, and basically anything that gets us into the great outdoors.
Fun Facts
In my tween years–back when Andre Agassi & Pete Sampras reigned–I played junior tennis and was ranked among the top thirty players in my state. One time I even got to speak with Venus & Serena Williams’ dad! (How was that, right?!)
The travel bug bit me, y’all. I’ve been to 75% of the states here in the US. Internationally, I’ve visited Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Italy & Australia!
My husband is a die-hard Auburn Tigers fan, but since we’re residents of Athens, Georgia, I’m working on converting him into a Georgia Bulldogs fan. Go Dawgs!
